Amy Sue Owens

On September 1, 2025, the world lost one of its brightest lights when Amy Sue Owens passed away in Ogden, Utah, after a fearless battle with her second bout of breast cancer that spread to her liver.

Born to Ralph and Sherry Owens as their first child, she grew up in Ogden and graduated from Ben Lomond High School in 1990 before earning her associate’s degree from Stevens Heneger.

She went on to spend her entire career in the dental field — work she excelled at and truly loved. Her last several years at Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons of Utah were some of her happiest professionally, surrounded by coworkers and dentists who weren’t just colleagues, but family.

Amy was much more than her career. She was an adventurer, a free spirit, and a connector of people. She loved hiking, paddle boarding, singing along at concerts or trying out new hobbies — like line dancing. And if a chance to travel came up, she was always ready to go. She loved live baseball games, never missed a chance to cheer for the Las Vegas Raiders, and could always find laughter in reality TV. And let’s not forget her shopping — her closet could outshine anyone’s, and she kept it in perfect order.

She was wonderfully accident-prone, always keeping her family on their toes and adding a little extra laughter to everyday life. Amy lived big, laughed loud, and loved even harder. She had a way of making everyone feel seen — from her closest friends to total strangers.

She leaves behind her greatest joy and proudest accomplishment her daughter, Emily Owens. She is also survived by her parents, Ralph and Sherry Owens; her siblings and their families, sister, Jennifer Stickler and her husband Kirk, their children Tayler, Gracie, and Hunter; brother, James Owens, and his children Drew Lund, Devyn and Dylan Owens. Drew is married to Dale Lund and they have two children, Lilly and Wesley; brother, David Owens, and his wife Claire, and their children, Daniel and his wife Rashell, Allison, Vivian and Ryder. Amy also leaves behind aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends. We take comfort in knowing she has been joyfully reunited with her grandparents, Bob and Shirley Johnson and James and Dora Owens; uncle, Luke and Aunt Jeanie Hill and Uncle Jeff Hall, who is waiting on someone to have a beer and play darts with.

Amy didn’t want a goodbye, she wanted a celebration. Please join us on Sunday, September 14, 2025, anytime between 4 to 7 p.m. at the Mountain Luxury Grand Hall, 3632 North Wolf Creek Drive, Eden. Carpooling is recommended as parking is limited.

Amy loved to dress up, so come in your “best dressed” — whether that means heels and sparkles or your favorite jeans and T-shirt.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at IHC for their care and compassion during Amy’s last few days.
