With a heart full of respect and fondness, we honor the life of Gordon "Wayne" Tarwater, or "Chief" as he was affectionately known. Born on July 22, 1954, in Atlanta, Georgia, Wayne was a figure of strength, courage, and humility. His compassionate spirit and loving nature were the bedrock of his family and community in Ogden, Utah, where he resided. He was a man of quiet yet profound strength. The kind of man whose actions spoke louder than words.

Wayne Tarwater was a man who embraced the world with open arms. He relished the thrill of a good golf game, the invigoration of running, the freedom of bike riding, the tranquility of fishing, and the joy of hiking. His love for the outdoors was only surpassed by his love for his family and his dedication to serving his community. He was a highly decorated police officer, and his leadership as the Chief of Police for the Ogden City Police Department was marked by integrity, courage, and deep compassion. His service wasn't limited to his local community; he also served as a Marine, where he advanced quickly and was highly recognized.

Wayne's life was a testament to the adage, "The measure of a man is how he treats his wife and children." His wife, Stella Tarwater, was the love of his life, and their bond was a testament to a love story that began on February 3, 1979. His children, Robert and Sara Tarwater, were the light of his life, and he cherished every moment with them. He is survived by his wife Stella, children Robert and Sara, two sisters, Sheila and Lori, and his extended family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Wilma Tarwater.

Wayne Tarwater's legacy is a tapestry of love, courage, and service. His life was a beautiful journey that leaves behind footprints etched in our hearts. We invite you to share your memories and photos of Wayne on his memorial page at www.myers-mortuary.com, in celebration of a life well-lived.

The family requests that donations be made to the Ogden City Police Department Charitable Fund.

The date and time of the funeral service is to be determined at a later date. Please help us celebrate Wayne by sharing memories and uploading photos to his memorial page at https://www.myers-mortuary.com/obituaries/gordon-tarwater. Services entrusted to Myers Mortuary in Ogden.
