Daren Allen Bateman passed away on March 12, 2026 at the age of 62. He was born in
Ogden, Utah to Percy and Maevon Bateman. Daren grew up in Clearfield where he attended Clearfield High School. It was there that he met the love of his life. They were married on August 26, 1982 in the
Ogden, Utah Temple. Daren supported his way through college by working at RC Willey. Soon after graduating from Weber State, he went to the Pacific Northwest to work for The Boeing Company. He loved his time working as an electrical engineer and took every opportunity to further his career. He represented Boeing on a national level as a board member of NFPA-79. Throughout his career he worked on several programs beginning with the then novel Boeing 777 airplane. Daren also had the opportunity of working for the Defense Department on the B2 bomber and the F22 fighter program. He then transferred to the Boeing commercial side during which time he worked with the "Moonshine Group", a group that designed and implemented specialized equipment that improved production and reduced costs. Daren was the primary electrician with a highly desired UL certification. Daren was also certified in Lean manufacturing. He loved the work he did at The Boeing Company and calls many with whom he worked with lifelong friends.
Daren was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served faithfully in many callings. He knew his time on earth was precious and he loved the Lord. He willingly gave of his time to help and serve others.
Preceding him in death were his parents Percy George and Maevon Bingham Bateman, and his sisters Barbara (Roy Reed) and Sandra (Randy Miles). Daren is survived by his wife of 44 years, Joyce Gorringe Bateman, his daughter Lynzi (Davis Rasmussen), and his son Brodi Bateman. He absolutely adored his grandchildren and loved taking them fishing and on special trips: Ayden Rasmussen, Emma Beth Rasmussen, Izaiah Rasmussen, Lily Ann Rasmussen, and Asher Bateman. Daren is survived by his siblings Doug (Doris Bateman), David, Debbie (Gordon Belflower), Darlene (Kevin VanVleet), and Barry Bateman.
Daren also loved fishing, hunting, and traveling. Daren had opportunities to travel many places and he enjoyed learning new cultures and seeing new sights. You could often find Daren working on a project around the house and taking care of his garden-even as his diseases took their toll on his body. He will be missed and we long for the day we get to be reunited and see him again. Until then, we are so grateful to have had his example of love, forgiveness, courage, faith, and strength; always pointing us toward our Savior. We would like to thank his valiant team of doctors at Huntsman Cancer Institute who helped him in his courageous battle with cancer and its long-term chronic side effects. Rest in peace. Until we meet again, our caring and loving husband, father, and friend.
A viewing will be held in Daren's honor on Friday, March 20, 2026 from 10 - 11 a.m. at the Wilson 2nd Ward, 2333 South 2700 West, West Haven, Utah, followed by the funeral service at 11:30.
