Grant Cleon Jensen
November 26, 1939-March 9, 2026
On a cold November day, Grant Cleon Jensen began his mortal journey in
Malad, Idaho. He was the first of 7 children born to Rawleigh Grant Jensen
and Thora Moon.
Cleon grew up in Malad and helped garden and farm. He was also active in
Future Farmers of America.
Cleon loved to learn. He was especially proficient in church history and church
doctrine and could stomp on anybody who played Celestial Pursuit with him. He
loved books and reading and spent years adding to his library. He spent many
years actively pursuing his degree through attending night school. At long
last, in 1985 he earned a Bachelor of Science from Weber State College in
Child and Family Studies.
He worked for over 40 years at Hill Air Force Base as an aircraft repairman.
He didn't particularly love it but he stuck with it in order to provide for his
growing family.
Although not a fabulous communicator, he was a prolific thinker and a writer
compiling many, MANY volumes of journals and notebooks.
Cleon was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints and actively served in numerous callings through the years. His mission
was served in southern California. He was a generous home teacher and
genuinely loved those he ministered to. Working with his 4 sons and helping
them earn scouting awards was rewarding but his favorite calling was as an
Ogden Temple worker where he was able to spend time with Barbara.
He served in the United States Army, stationed at Fort Bragg, for 2 years
and was discharged shortly after he married Barbara.
Cleon was sealed for time and for all eternity to his sweetheart, Barbara Ann
Morrissey, on June 1, 1965, in the Logan temple. They put up with 7 children
who entered their lives.
Kimberly Ferrell (Jeff), Timothy Scott (Chris Schultz), Daylynn O'Driscoll
(John), Daniel Shawn (Chris Valdovinos), Peter Kaye (Alex Cooper), Sarina
Schmittling (Jim), and Cory Patrick (Marci Moore).
Of course these children had children and then those children had children
and the Jensen family expanded.
His much loved grandchildren are: Chelsea Dorn (Steven), Talia Brett (Nigel),
Kayley Jepson, Jaden, Dakota, Tyler (Whitney), Andrew (Dahily), Amber Kapp
(Kory), Emily Hammer (Tyson), Elijah, Annah, Ezrah (Brandley), Hannah Olney (Adam), Savannah Herrin (Landon), Destiny Porter (Justin), Morgan Todd (Gavin), Cameron, Emma, Journey, Jenna, Jax, Brooklynn, Ashlynn, Courtlynn (Jensen).
Great-grandchildren: Quintin, Hasting, Bryndley (Dorn), Kort, Tess (Keller),
Preston, William, Jackson, Adaela, Penelope, Oaks (Brett), Bentley, Ella
(Jepson), Jezlia, Jordan (Jensen), Charlie (Jensen), Kyrie, Spencer (Kapp),
Grace, Autumn (Olney), Oakley, Hudson, Baby (Todd).
Cleon loved holding the little ones on his lap and telling the older ones his
corny dad jokes which just kept coming. All were enamored by his Gustavus
Ghost rendition.
After an extended illness and surrounded by many members of his family, on
March 9, 2026, Cleon ended his mortal journey in Roy, Utah, and was reunited
with his beloved Barbara.
The Jensen Family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Bristol Hospice
and Heritage Park Care Center for their compassionate care of their dad,
grandpa and great grandpa. You are angels on earth.
