Amy Posocco Obituary

Amy "Mimi" Christine Posocco, 41, of Beverly, MA, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 7, 2023. She was born in Rockville, CT on March 14, 1982, and grew up in Willington, CT. As a child, Amy played the violin, danced, and played AAU basketball. She was a graduate of E.O. Smith High School, Class of 2000. Amy was the first female basketball player to attain 1,000 points during her four-year varsity career. She graduated from Wesleyan University in 2004, with degrees in American Studies and Women's Studies. She also played basketball for Wesleyan, where she still holds the career record for the most assists. In 2007, she graduated from Simmons University with a Master of Science degree in Severe Special Education. In 2009, she graduated from Northeastern University with a BCBA in Applied Behavior Analysis, and in 2016 she graduated from Simmons University with a Master of Science degree as an Education Specialist in Language and Literacy. After graduating from Wesleyan, Amy was employed by the New England Center for Children in Southboro, MA as a Senior Consultant. She also spent two years in Abu Dhabi, working for NECC to assist in their efforts to set up a branch of the New England Center for Children in that city.

Amy spent her entire life loving and helping others to grow. Her work as a teacher of children with autism and mentor impacted countless families. She was passionate about supporting gay and transgender youth, and believed that everyone should have the opportunity to develop to their fullest potential regardless of what challenges they faced.

Amy lived to be outdoors. She could always find a way to make a trip up a mountain, bike a beautiful trail, or kayak down a river. Auntie Mimi would never miss an opportunity to paddle her nieces or nephews across a lake or take them on an adventure. Amy took a Safari in Africa, she trekked in Nepal twice, she went skiing in the Alps, and visited multiple European Countries while working in Abu Dhabi. She continued her travels to India, Thailand, Turkey, and Egypt. She found Istanbul to be her favorite city to travel to. Amy summited 14,000 foot peaks in Colorado and recently Amy and her partner Lindsey spent time traveling through the western National Parks and Hawaii. In all her travels, her favorite place was hiking the White Mountains of New Hampshire with her dad.

Amy leaves behind her loving partner and best friend, Lindsey Dashiell; her parents, Scott and Norma (Bailey) Posocco; two sisters, Sara Sconyers (Brian) and Emily Dandurand (Jeff); six nieces and nephews, Georgia, Grayson and Clara Sconyers, and Ben, Charlie (Chico), and Lucy Dandurand; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; as well as Fred, Pamela and the entire Dashiell family, who loved her as one of their own.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2023, from 11:00 AM to 2:30 PM, with a funeral service beginning at 2:30 PM at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT. I can not believe it has been a year since Amy's passing. I always include her in my prayers at night to ask everyone In heaven to watch over her. I enjoyed spending time with Amy and her family on holidays along with Barbara and Bruce and family. I enjoyed watching them all grow up, and the closeness they shared as a family. Amy was a lovely person to know and love.

Amy was working closely with my daughter at Timberlane Middle School. She was so kind and patient. A model for her peers and a gift for all the special needs children whose lives she touched.
