Amy "Jo" Robnett, 95 years young, went to Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 19, 2024, in
Duncan, Oklahoma with her loving daughter by her side. She was born on August 28, 1929 in Ryan, Oklahoma to James Samuel and Henrietta (Chisum) Ball.
Visitation will be held Sunday, December 22, from 1:30-4:00 p.m. at Whitt Funeral Home in
Duncan, Oklahoma. Her funeral service is planned for Monday, December 23, at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Duncan with Rev. Randy Southerland officiating. Interment will follow at the Duncan Cemetery under the direction of Whitt Funeral Home.
Amy Jo, being raised on a farm, was a hard worker from a very young age, milking cows to pulling cotton (her cotton sack always weighed two times more than she did.) As was her mother, she was an excellent cook. Amy Jo graduated from Union Valley High School. She loved sports, playing for and traveling with the basketball team.
After graduating high school, Amy Jo was in Ryan, Oklahoma, at Nash's drug store on Main Street where they served old-fashioned shakes and sodas made by hand and you could sit at small round tables with attached round red seats and enjoy your drink and look at comic books. It was love at first sight! Amy Jo met the love of her life, James Edward Robnett from Terral while he was home on furlough from the Army.
After James' discharge from the Army, he and Amy Jo married on July 24, 1948 and moved to Terral where they built a small house that Amy Jo designed. They celebrated their 71st anniversary one month before James' death in 2019.
Amy Jo attended some nursing classes and volunteered at the hospital before beginning her long career as an Avon Representative for approximately 60 years and also served as Area Manager at times. She was always a member of the President's Club for top sellers. Amy Jo always had to be busy, even in her 90s she was rearranging cabinets and closets or cleaning drawers or moving furniture on her own, she could not sit still. She loved working in the yard and flower beds, making floral arrangements, working word puzzles, and reading. Most of all, Amy Jo loved spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren, and attending all of their sports activities.
Amy Jo was a devoted Christian and loved the Lord. She was such a blessing to her family. She was so loving, caring, and compassionate. She was an amazing wife, mother, NaNa, aunt, and friend. She was dearly loved and adored by her family, friends, and everyone whose lives she touched. She will truly be missed by all that loved her.
Amy Jo is survived by her two daughters: Pam Reid and husband Mike, Duncan, and Jamie Hefner, Duncan; two grandchildren: Michelle Roberson and husband Scotti, Eddie Reid and wife Frankie; great-grandchildren: Nicole Reid, Kayli Hefner, and Brody Arbuckle; brother, Bill Ball and wife Joan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
