Amy June Millington Schumacher, 53, of Elizabethtown, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at the Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington. Amy was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne Louis Millington and Sandra Potter Millington, as well as her partner, John Best.
Amy leaves behind two daughters: Morgan Mooneyham (Conner) and Audrey Schumacher-Devane (Anna), both of Leland; brothers: Tony Millington and Mark Millington, both residing in New York and grandchildren: Myles Mooneyham and Murphy Mooneyham of Leland.
An enthusiastic cheerleader, Amy proudly supported her daughters in their sporting events, academics, and life endeavors. Her personality was warm and giving, which resonated in her love language of gift-giving and service. Amy's creativity extended to her hobbies; she cherished vacations with friends and family at Holden Beach, participated in arts and crafts, and loved to paint or draw. Whether it be capturing memories in photographs or discovering antique finds, Amy had a knack for bringing beauty and joy to everything she touched.
Among her proudest accomplishments was her dedication to teaching exceptional children, where she enjoyed guiding students toward independence through their cafe at school. Her commitment to her students and her love for education will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life service will be held in her honor at 2pm on Sunday, December 28th at The Lake Church, located at 1930 White Lake Dr, Elizabethtown, NC 28337 with Reverend Cameron McGill officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
In Amy's memory, a gofundme page has been created to accept donations to provide the EC students funds to continue her legacy of greatness within their classrooms. She would want nothing more than to watch her children exceed in this life. https://gofund.me/35c06355f
