Andrea Louise Carleton, age 72, passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at The Village at Willow Crossing in Mansfield, Massachusetts. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on June 12, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Eliot G. and Frances M. (Hallahan) Carleton. Andrea spent her early years in Arlington, Massachusetts, before her family settled in Bedford when she was twelve. She graduated from Bedford High School with the Class of 1971 and continued her education at Middlesex Community College, earning her associates degree in 1973.
With her degree in hand, Andrea took a position with Lincoln Labs on the campus of Hanscom Air Force Base, working in the information technology department. Andrea had a long and wonderful career with Lincoln Labs, often taking advantage of the company’s sponsored bus trips, visiting the sights and cities around New England. She retired in January of 2024, with nearly fifty years of dedicated service.
Throughout her life, Andrea looked forward to spending time with her family. Sundays were reserved for games of cribbage with her grandfather, and she regularly traveled to Hingham to go to local flea markets and yard sales with her Aunt Marian. As the "Official Family Photographer" there was never a birthday or event that Andrea would miss, documenting all the festivities with her camera in hand.
In more recent years, Andrea became an outgoing member of both the Bedford and Lexington Council on Aging, looking forward to community trips to Boston and New York, taking in all the cities had to offer. While visiting Boston, Andrea never passed up a cruise around the harbor and especially looked forward to the New Years Eve Day cruise, celebrating on the deck of a ship with friends. Back at home in Bedford, Andrea enjoyed some quiet time too, working on jig saw puzzles and writing to her pen pal in Japan.
She is survived by her Hallahan and Joyce family cousins.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Andrea's visitation on Thursday, July 10, 2025, from 10:00 to 10:30 am in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 am at Blessed Sacrament Church, 10 Diamond Street, Walpole. Interment will take place privately at the Shawsheen Cemetery in Bedford.
