Andreas "Andy" Tegtmeier, age 89, of Willow Springs, Illinois, formerly of Western Springs, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 13, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on August 10, 1936, in Neustadt, Germany, Andy was the youngest of four children and the beloved son of Karl Heinz and Franziska (Blut) Tegtmeier. Throughout his life, he exemplified strength, kindness, and unwavering dedication that shaped a life of purpose and fulfillment. His journey from Germany to the United States was marked by courage and commitment, values he carried throughout his life.

A proud veteran of the United States Army, Andy served his country with honor in both the interpreter and medic roles. Beyond his military service, he was a respected member of the Italian American Executives of Transportation, where he built lasting friendships and made meaningful contributions to the community.

Andy shared 66 years of marriage with his devoted wife, Nancy, who was his steadfast partner and greatest source of support. Together, they raised three children: Andrea (Paul) Vie, Stephen (Jeannine) Tegtmeier, and Paul (Beth) Tegtmeier, who continue to carry forward his legacy of love, integrity, and commitment.

He was a proud and loving Papa to eight grandchildren-Nicholas (Makenna), Alyssa, Kimberly, Daniel, Olivia, Joseph, Benjamin, and Anna-who brought immense joy and light to his life. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Wilma Sarna. Andy was dearly loved by many nieces and nephews.

Andy's warmth, wisdom, and gentle spirit touched all who knew him, leaving behind a lasting legacy of love, family, and service.
