Andrew F. Appel III
November 19, 1970 - March 12, 2025
Andrew Francis Appel, Ill was born in Beckley, West Virginia on November 19, 1970. He passed away unexpectedly on March 12, 2025 in Charleston, West Virginia.
Andy spent most of his life close to his family. Raised in Beckley, he attended Woodrow Wilson High School, where he performed as a notable drummer with the Woodrow Wilson Flying Eagles Band. He had a lifelong love of sports, a love he shared with his siblings, and with his niece and nephews. He played team events in his youth, and continued as a catcher on softball teams well into adulthood.
Andy always possessed a sensitive nature and deep empathy for those in difficult life circumstances. With a degree in Social Work, most of his career was spent helping troubled or struggling youth, and adults with learning disabilities. Included in this work, the last four years he served as guidance counselor for high school aged young adults at the Mountaineer ChalleNGe Academy in Montgomery, affiliated with the National Guard. He was mentor and advisor to students seeking academic discipline and other life skills. To those he worked with, he is already greatly missed.
Andy is survived by his parents Andrew Jr. and Deame Appel, siblings Christina Tucker, Kara Tabor and Tim Appel, a niece Madison Tabor, and nephews Trey and Aiden Tabor, and Noah Tucker.
