Andrew Bourassa Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dupuis Funeral Home - Ashland on Dec. 5, 2025.
Andrew Bourassa, age 76, passed away at his home on November 23, 2025. A resident of Ashland, New Hampshire, Andrew was predeceased by his beloved wife of over twenty years, Renee Chenez-Bourassa.

Andrew was born on February 18, 1949, in Berlin, New Hampshire, the son of Gerard E. Bourassa and Mary A. (Florenzano) Bourassa.

Andrew graduated from Laconia High School in 1967. Afterward, he enlisted in the Coast Guard. As a Coast Guardsman, Andrew completed his training to become a Radioman, a role that ignited a lifelong passion for communications technology.

After completing his service, Andrew pursued higher education, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of New Hampshire in 1989. He was a gifted writer and voracious reader, believing strongly in the importance of lifelong learning.

His love of radio and adventurous spirit led him to enlist in the Merchant Marines, where he further honed his communication skills as a Radio Operator. Upon retiring, Andrew used his time and talent to give back to his community, serving as a volunteer EMT and as a member of Lions Club International. In his free time, he loved connecting with people from around the globe as a HAM radio operator.

Andrew is survived by his step-children, Sarah (Thaddeus) Whithed of Dalton, NH, and Kristen (Sean) McClintock of Ludlow, MA; three step-grandchildren, Hezekiah, John, and Colin; his brothers, David (Nancy) Bourassa, of Laconia, NH, and Stephen Bourassa of the Caribbean; a nephew, Michael Bourassa; and a niece, Angela LeBrun, of Manchester, NH.

A Chapel Service will be held at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, in Boscawen at a date to be announced.

I JUST found out about Andy's passing. He was a long time friend of my husband (John H. Heaney III) -- they went to Laconia High and also were Ham Radio friends. My deepest sympathy to the family. Please stay in touch.
