Andrew Goodale Obituary

Andrew Bruce Goodale, of Fernandina Beach, FL, formerly of Windsor, CT, passed away on Tuesday, February 24 at the age of 65 while recovering from a stroke. He is survived by the love of his life, Cheryl Cummins.
Andy was born February 6, 1961, in Hartford, CT, the son of the late Bruce and Jane Goodale. He attended public schools in Windsor, as well as Northfield Mount Hermon School (MA), and the Woodstock Country School (VT).
As the result of a unique adventure while at Woodstock, Andy decided to become a chef. In 1983 he graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY, and spent the rest of his life doing what he loved in restaurants across New England and Florida. In Fernandina Beach he worked at Joe's 2nd Street Bistro for many years and was key in the opening of Lagniappe, now one of the premier fine dining restaurants on Amelia Island. As a classically trained chef he mentored many young chefs who now are creating masterpieces across the country.
Andy was a music lover his whole life, and a Grateful Dead fanatic, attending over 50 Grateful Dead concerts. He loved spending time at local watering holes and listening to music with his friends. He also enjoyed picking up his guitar on occasion and strumming a favorite song. He was funny, loyal, thoughtful, hard working and hard playing. He lived life how he wanted to, and will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
In addition to Cheryl, he leaves his siblings Chris, Steve, and Anne, Cheryl's son, Nick, and five nieces and nephews. Needless to say, Andy was the "fun" uncle.
A celebration of Andy's life will be held sometime in the spring at one of those local watering holes.
