Andrew Jackson

Andrew Jackson, 97, died peacefully at home in East Norriton on June 12, 2022, with his wife by his side. Born December 18, 1924, in Strawberry Mansion, Philadelphia, Andrew was the son of Morrell A. and Katherine (nee Goldwire) Jackson. Andy, as he was known by his family and friends, served in the United States Navy as a flight mechanic during WWII from 1943 to 1946. His service to his country and his work in naval aviation were a source of great pride to him. Following his time in the Navy, Andy enjoyed a long and successful career working for the PA Liquor Control Board, eventually serving as a regional manager before retiring in the early 1990s. He continued his connection with his colleagues by serving as president of the Southeast region of the Pennsylvania Association for Retired State Employees. As an active member of St. Patrick's Church, Andy enjoyed singing in the church choir and serving as a cantor. Andy was also a member of the Eagleville-Trooper Lions Club and acted as president of the Philadelphia Jackson Family Reunion. Volunteering to be a foster parent was a meaningful and enriching experience for Andy and was the basis of forming lifelong relationships. Mr. Jackson is survived by his wife, Claudette (nee Michaud), his stepdaughters Annette Procyson (William), and Michelle Bell (Jamie), his stepson Andrew Tomasko (Geri), and many grandchildren and great grandchildren, his brother Maurice Jackson and two sisters; Jacqueline Jackson and Amy Jackson. He was preceded in death by his first wife Sonia (nee High), sons Andre (Claire), Erik (Aundrae), and Brian (Angela) Jackson, his daughter Gail Grover, and by his stepdaughter Theresa Giese (Ed). Relatives and friends are invited to share in Andrew's Life Celebration on Saturday June 18, from 9 a.m. to 9:50 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, 714 Dekalb St., Norristown. Funeral Mass will begin at 10 a.m. Interment will be private. Family services are by Boyd-Horrox-Givnish of East Norriton, 610-277-7000.
