He was born on Feb 18, 2002 in Hastings, NE to Bryce & Becky (Taylor) Katzberg. He grew up in Kenesaw and received his education at Christ Lutheran School K-8 and attended high school in Kenesaw Public Schools graduating in 2020. He graduated from Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture (NCTA) in Curtis, NE in May 2022 with an Associates Degree in Ag Equipment Management and a certification in Welding. Through the Reinke Plus Program, he was a Platinum Plus Certified technician. He worked at US Meat Animal Research Center, Kuhlman Irrigation, Travis Nienhueser Farm, Katzberg family farm, and most recently Kort Transfer.
Drew most enjoyed being outdoors even from a young age. He enjoyed hunting, trap shooting, target practice, working on demo and race cars with his friends until early morning hours, playing cards, and mostly spending time with close friends and family. He spent countless hours on the family farm. He never missed a chance to be in the field or the tractor, always with his own set of pliers.
He never knew a stranger. If you met him, you were his friend. He had a way of bringing laughter to any setting, and telling a joke that wasn’t always funny, but timed precisely. People who spent time with him always knew activities were filled with more fun and laughter when he was around. He was known for his willingness to always help a friend in need, or play a practical joke.
The Kenesaw community benefited from his servant gifts during his time spent on Wasenek Committee, Kenesaw Community Christmas Lighting, and Kenesaw Volunteer Fire Department. He spent a few hours on his birthday on a call that would become his last. He will be greatly missed by all those whose lives he touched.
He is survived by his parents Bryce and Becky Katzberg of Kenesaw, NE, sister Danielle and brother-in-law Ryan Baker, nephew Reece Baker all of Hastings, NE, girlfriend Tamryn Klein of Wolbach, NE, grandparents Jerold Katzberg of Hastings, NE, Robert and Toni Taylor of Woodburn, IA, several aunts, uncles, cousins and his farm dog, Clyde.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother Gloria I. Katzberg, Uncle and Aunt Bart and Robin Taylor of Porter, TX, and Aunt and Godmother Kathy Taylor of Woodburn, IA and all of his great grandparents.
