Verdon Arthur Jacobitz was born on February 9, 1942, on the family farm in Kenesaw, NE to Ernst and Elsie (Kleier) Jacobitz. He was baptized at Zion Wanda Lutheran Church on March 8, 1943, and confirmed there on March 30, 1958. His confirmation verse was John 8, 31-32. He attended Kenesaw Public School and graduated from Kenesaw High School on May 12, 1960.

Verdon entered the United States Army on December 13, 1963, serving in Germany on the atomic bomb crew. He was honorably discharged on September 13, 1965. Upon returning home from Germany, Verdon attended the local Central Technical College in Hastings, NE where he studied electrical wiring and plumbing.

On September 25, 1966, Verdon was united in marriage to Carol Marie Boxdorfer at Trinity Lutheran Church in Salina, KS. Together they built a home and life on the family farm south of Kenesaw, NE, where they were active members of Zion Wanda Lutheran Church. Verdon spent many years farming on the family land, caring for livestock and crops, and later established his own well-drilling business. Verdon was well versed in many trades including electrical wiring, plumbing, carpentry, and mechanics. The couple was blessed with two daughters: Cindy (Jacobitz) Fritz and Lisa (Jacobitz) Martens.

Verdon enjoyed spending time with his family, including nieces and nephews. He drove school busses for Kenesaw Public Schools, Adam Central Public Schools, and St. Cecilia Catholic School. He loved driving for school activities or events. He served as the Kenesaw High School basketball scorebook keeper for 23 years. A highlight of his, was driving the Catholic School bus to see the Pope in Denver, CO. Verdon was also employed at Gas-n-Shop in Hastings, NE for 15 years.

In March of 2021, Verdon and Carol moved to Kansas City, MO, to live with their daughter Lisa and her family due to health concerns, and they transferred their membership to King of Kings Lutheran Church.
