Andrew E. Mast was born on July 8, 1941, to Emanuel and Sarah Mast in Arthur, IL. He was called to his eternal reward on November 26, 2025, at Haven of Care, Arthur, IL.
He married me, Esther R. Otto, on September 19, 1961. We shared the joys and sorrows of life together for sixty-four years.
Although life held challenges at times, Dad’s unwavering faith in God carried him through the storms and trials of life.
Some of the highlights of Dad’s life were the two years in 1W service, going to volunteer as house parents at Rest Haven, and cooking for ADS after Hurricane Katrina.
To us children though, the most unselfish service he could ever have given was when, through much prayer and love, he and Mom opened their hearts and home to us and gave us a stable, safe dwelling place and life, for which we are forever grateful and thankful.
Survivors include his loving wife, Esther, children: Nelson and Barbara (Yoder), Marlene and John Hochstedler, grandchildren: Henry, Lovina, Elizabeth, and Martha Mast, Marnita and Donavon Kaufmann, Ryan and Rose Hochstedler, Shandra and Pablo Cruz, four great-grandchildren, special niece and husband Melvin and Katie Gingerich and children who were caretakers of Grandpa and Grandma, sisters: Martha (Felty) Kauffman, Rebecca (Eli) Slabaugh, and brother: Ezra (Barbara) Mast.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emanuel and Sarah Mast, three brothers, four sisters, two sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law, and a granddaughter, Esther Mae Mast.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Haven of Care for all the love, care, and support over the last few months of Dad’s life.
