Andrew Moffett Obituary
Andrew's life journey began in Bay Springs, but his early childhood was shaped in Gulfport, MS, where his family first moved when he was a young boy. He attended Soria City Elementary School through the third grade before the family relocated to the Gaston Point area. There, he continued his studies at Gaston Point Elementary from fourth to sixth grade. The Moffett's later returned to Bay Springs, where Andrew attended Bay Springs High School.
Andrew returned to Gulfport, where he built a life rooted in hard work, community, and family. He worked for many years with Dan Odom's Glass Company.
In 1972, Andrew welcomed his first child, Janis Carr, with Alberta Mitchell in. In June 1983, he married Rose Marie Hinton, and they had five children. Andrew was a man of quiet strength, known for his strong work ethic, deep love for his children, and unwavering loyalty to those he held dear. He will be remembered for his humility, his hands-on approach to life, and the deep wisdom he shared through his actions more than words.
Andrew "Duke" Moffett, Sr is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Leroy Moffett and Lula Jordan; his stepfather, Howard Jordan; and one brother, Leo Moffett.
He leaves to cherish his memories, two sons, Andrew (Dwynette) Moffett, Jr of Graham, WA; Antonio Hinton of Gulfport, MS; four daughters, Janis (Mark Sr.) Carr of Gulfport, MS; Andria (Carl) Hinton of Pass Christian, MS; Amanda (Conell) Moffett-Spence of Chesapeake, VA; Melissa Hinton of Newman, GA. Twenty-five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Three siblings, Arlean Keller, Paulette Lizana, and Otis (Shelia) Moffett of Gulfport, MS and special cousin, Derek Watts of Gulfport and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
