Andrew James Schratwieser passed away on August 27, 2025 in Riverside, TX. Andrew was born in Metairie, Louisiana, the youngest boy born to John and Barbara Schratwieser. Andrew recalled his eight years at Sam Houston State University fondly, where he ran the University radio station for several years. Andrew graduated in 1987 with a Bachelor of Arts in radio television and film. After his time there, he met Carol Lynn Cunningham who he later married on April 11, 1996 and dearly loved for the rest of his life. After graduation, Andrew worked at a photo lab for many years, eventually growing to manage the business. Many were lucky to hear about the many characters he encountered, ranging from a real-life Indian Jones to Alan Bean, the 4th man to walk on the moon. On September 16, 2000, Andrew and Carol welcomed a baby boy into the world and named him Adam. For a great portion of Adam's childhood, Andrew was an extremely proud stay-at-home father. Andrew was very well known for his obvious deep love and pride for his son. He made sure to talk to Adam every week, no matter what. Throughout his life Andrew was a avid photographer, who enjoyed target shooting and learning various electronics and crafts that he could share with his loved ones. Andrew was a very kind individual, who loved animals as much as they loved him. For many years he kept many animals from a rabbit that may have adopted him to a bearded dragon and all the family dogs that served as some of his closest companions towards the end of his life. Andrew is preceded by his wife Carol, parents John and Barbara, and beloved family dog Ike. He is survived by his son Adam and siblings Mike, Hugh, Julia and Mary and his close friends and dogs Daisy and Abner. A graveside service will take place at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Plantersville, TX on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at 9:00 AM. Memorial condolences to the family may be made at www.shmfh.com.
