A Memorial Service officiated by Deacon William Vincent will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at Vincent Funeral Home of Kaplan honoring the life of Jean Andrew Sherman, 82, who passed away on July 11, 2025.
A visitation will take place at Vincent Funeral Home of Kaplan on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, from 8:00 AM until the service at 2:00 PM.
Andrew Sherman was born in Abbeville at the Palms Hospital. He was a native of Abbeville until he married his beloved wife, Diana White on October 12, 1968 and resided in Forked Island. He worked as a boat captain on the Mississippi River with Gnots, Inc. in New Orleans for over 50 years retiring in 2013. He was an active member of the community helping anyone in need without hesitation. He also served as a volunteer Fireman since the 1970's; CPR instructor in the 80's and 90's; served as Fire Chief at Dist. 13 Vol. Fire Dept. in 1990; administered communion to the homebound elderly; and helped organize and coached Forked Island Little League.
His personal goal in life was to make sure everyone he met was left with a smile on their face. He also loved fishing, watching wrestling, spending time with his family, loved ones, and grandchildren. He truly was a child at heart. He will truly be missed.
Andrew is survived by his loving wife, Diana, of 57 years; was blessed with two daughters, Tara Louise and her husband Neil and Rachel Sherman; three grandchildren, Christopher Jonah Trahan, Matthew Dylan Trahan, and Angel Dawn Mouton; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edier Sherman and Amanda Menard; three sisters, Aline S. Luquette, Mabel Sherman, and Agnes S. Matte; and three brothers, John Sherman, Dalton Sherman, and Wilton Sherman.
The family also wishes to extend a special thanks to his NP, Heather Mayard, the CIS special care team, home health nurses, and all his caregivers.
