Andrew Rudolph "Andy" Sivak, passed away with family by his side, in his home, on July 15, 2025. The eldest son of the late Andrew and Grace Sivak of Smithtown, Andy is survived by his wife of nearly 62 years, Connie Moran Sivak, whom he married on November 16, 1963; and by their three children and 7 grandchildren: Michelle Lea Faulkenberry of Gastonia, NC (daughter – Alison); Michael Andrew Sivak of Fishers, IN (wife Jennifer, sons Tyler and Luke, daughters Lauren and Bailey); and Philip Andrew Sivak of Fairmont (son – Drew, daughter – Kate).
Andy is also survived by his brothers - Gary Sivak (wife – Karla), Nick Sivak (wife – Terri), both of Smithtown; and sister Betty Cottrill (husband – Mark) of Corbin Branch; two brothers-in-law – Harry Davis of Monongah and Sonny Swisher of Fairmont; and a sister-in-law – Carolyn Sivak of Barrickville. Surviving Andy on the "Moran" side of the family are sisters and brothers-in-law Annabelle Willard of Fairmont, Lorena Piteleski (Dan) of Morgantown; Marilyn Heinle of Denver, CO; William Moran (Gwen) of Pensacola, FL, Linda Moran of Frederick, MD, Charles Moran (Libby) of Fairmont, Rebecca Donley (Jim) of Rockingham, VA; and Lonnie Moran (Gail) of Taylor, SC. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Andy was preceded in death by two sisters – Mary Ann Davis and Isla (Dottie) Swisher, and one brother – William (Bill) Sivak; sister-in-law - Karen Moore, and a brother-in-law – Peter B. Moran.
After attending Morgantown High School, Andy enlisted in the US Army in 1960 and was stationed in Germany for two years. After his service ended, he worked briefly at Sharon Steel in Fairmont before attending Wheeling Barber College. After completing his studies and becoming licensed, he worked at Ron's Barber Shop in Fairmont before opening his own shop on Morgantown Avenue in Fairmont – where he barbered for 55 years and had a very loyal clientele who, even after his retirement, would call him to open the shop to cut hair by appointment.
Andy also served the City of Fairmont as a Fireman for 23 years – and retired in 1994 as a Lieutenant. During his time as a Fireman, he became interested in cooking and developed many recipes that became family staples – especially his hot dog sauce.
When he wasn't working at the Barbershop or Fire Department, Andy loved working with his hands – remodeling his home, restoring/refinishing furniture and maintaining apartment buildings that he and Connie owned/operated.
Andy (or Butch as he was known to close family and friends) was very proud of his family – proud that his three children graduated college, have successful careers, and families of their own. He especially loved being "Grandpap" to his grandchildren – all of whom made the journey to be with him during his last days.
Friends and family are invited to stop by Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street for a Celebration of Life on Friday July 18, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A private burial service will be held for family members at Mt. Zion Cemetery at a later date.
