Andrew was born in Jackson, MS on December 5, 1978, to Jane Sutherland Smith and Dr. Robert Allen Smith. Andrew graduated from Jackson Academy in 1997.
Always the consummate party planner, Andrew was a founding member of the Jackson Academy Boy's Supper Club that met every Thursday night for good times and "fine dining" where Andrew assured us that a good time was had by all.
Andrew went on to the University of Mississippi where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree. At Ole Miss, he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity and served as Rush Chairman, where he formed many lifelong friendships. After graduation, he continued as a Phi Delta Theta advisor for years.
Andrew was an Owner/Operator of several McDonald's restaurants, earning multiple career awards. Andrew served as President of the McDonald's Mid-South Advertising Co-op, guiding the advertising budget for over 150 McDonald's stores and he also served on the McDonald's Purchasing Committee, supporting over 500 Southeast region stores.
Andrew was an avid life-long Ole Miss fan. Many a big game started with a celebration in The Grove and ended with a celebration in his skybox. Andrew's favorite month of the year was December since it started with a birthday celebration that ran all the way through Christmas. It was a month to celebrate him. Andrew considered his greatest achievement in life to be his three children.
A man of profound curiosity, he was on a constant quest for understanding, delving into life's greatest mysteries, studying ancient texts, immersing himself in nature, and engaging in lapidary work. His grand curiosity and thirst for knowledge defined his life's journey.
Andrew is survived by his children Sutherland, Anna Prescott and Collier Smith; His mother and father, Jane and Dr. Robert Allen Smith; His sister, Jane Hyde Sheally (Jerry); His brothers, Allen Smith (Geri Beth) and Clayton Smith (Amy) and numerous nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins that he loved dearly.
There will be a visitation from 1-2 PM on Wednesday, May the 21st at St. James Episcopal Church in Oakridge Hall, Jackson, MS followed by a graveside service at Canton City Cemetery, Canton, MS at 3 PM.
