Andrew J. Sprite, age 51, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 1, 2026. He was born on June 26, 1974, in Grand Rapids to Larry and JoAnn (Bucz) Sprite, Andrew was a lifelong Michigan resident who brought warmth and laughter to all who knew him. Andrew graduated from Grandville High School with the Class of 1992 and went on to pursue his passion for the culinary arts at Grand Rapids Community College, where he earned his associate's degree. Cooking was more than a career; it was an expression of creativity and love. He devoted his life to crafting memorable meals and spent ten years as Executive Chef at The Kirby House, where his talent and leadership left a lasting impression. Andrew found his soulmate and the love of his life in Jody. Together they shared many wonderful years, standing by one another through life's joys and challenges. In his younger years, Andrew enjoyed skateboarding and snowboarding. He had a deep fascination with model trains and will be fondly remembered for his extensive collection. He cherished quiet evenings curled up with family watching classic 1980s films, including Big Trouble in Little China, Top Gun, and Die Hard. Above all, Andrew treasured time spent with family and friends and especially enjoyed hiking adventures with his beloved dog, Hank. Andrew was known for his quick wit and infectious sense of humor, often filling a room with laughter. He was a loving, generous, and kindhearted man who was always ready to lend a helping hand. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by the many who knew and loved him. Andrew is survived by his two sons, Noah (Erin) Sprite and Porter Sprite; siblings, Lori (Buck) Strang, Cathy (Orv) Sankey, Scott (Denise) Zimmerman, Julie (Mark) DeBolt and Natalie Hector; wife, Jody Sprite; mother of his children, Tawny Sprite; and cherished dog, Hank. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Ernie Sprite. In accordance with his wishes, no services will be held.
