Andrew Nicholas Sughroue, age 40, of Council Bluffs, Iowa passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at his home in Council Bluffs.
Andrew, lovely nicknamed "Bud" by his family, was born October 28, 1982 in Lincoln, NE. He was one of four siblings and attended school in McCook. He attended grade school at St. Patrick's and went on to graduate from McCook High School in 2001. Following high school, Bud attended McCook Community College where he also played baseball. In 2005, he graduated from Wayne State College with a bachelor's degree in business. Bud moved to the Council Bluffs/Omaha area where began his career in retail management. Throughout Andrew's career, no matter where he worked, his outgoing nature and warm personality made it easy for his coworkers and bosses to become friends in a short amount of time.
Bud loved his Ford Truck, watching and playing sports, especially baseball. He was an avid Husker fan and also enjoyed fishing, country music and wearing a good pair of cowboy boots. Although affectionally called "Turtle" on family walks, Andrew would eventually excel at any sport he tried. Taco rides and fun runs in Omaha, NE were a couple of his favorite past times. Bud was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He will be remembered for his infectious smile and kind heart.
Bud was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents.
Those left to celebrate his memory include his parents, Ed and Margaret Sughroue of McCook; siblings, Amy Sughroue of Omaha, Father Adam Sughroue of Bellwood, NE, Alex (Dana) Sughroue of Fremont, NE; one niece, Dakota, on the way; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members.

My condolences to all of you, Andrew's family. I remember him as being a very bright student in 8th-grade religion class at St. Patrick's. I offered Holy Mass for him January 19th. I'll be away from Nebraska this week giving a 4-day retreat to homeless people in Gallup, NM. The Sisters and the people will remember Andrew and you all in their prayers. Some of the Sisters remember Father Adam. Andrew has been a blessing to many people, and I commend him to God. God bless you!
