Andrew VanBuren Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Andras Crematory & Funeral Home Alternatives on Dec. 9, 2025.
Andrew Robert VanBuren, age 37 and a resident of Lorain, passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2025.

Andrew graduated from Elyria Catholic High School in 2006. He then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. in 2008, serving four years with a tour of duty in Afghanistan. He was honorably discharged in July 2012. Following his military service, Andrew worked various jobs in San Diego, California but after a few years he missed his family and friends and returned home to Lorain. Andrew had a heart of gold and would give a friend or stranger anything he could to make things better for them, even if it was only a kind word or a simple smile. He had so many friends and family that loved him, he will be missed by all. Andrew would never want people to wonder why he died, he would want them to know how he lived every day to the fullest!

Survivors include his father and step-mother Anthony C. and Kathleen VanBuren, his mother and step-father Cynthia L. and Lucky Fleming, his brother and sister-in-law Grant A. and Aline VanBuren, paternal grandmother Mary Jo VanBuren, his beloved niece Stella M. VanBuren, and aunts and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Robert VanBuren and maternal grandparents Andrew and Olga Zilka.

A Celebration of Life will be Sunday, December 14, 2025 from 1-4 p.m., at Amvets Post 47, 3009 Broadway Avenue, Lorain.
