Andy's words:
"After years of fighting a courageous battle against ALS, I now sit joyfully at the feet of Jesus! I was blessed to live most of my adult life with my best friend and darling wife Kimberly. I was also fortunate to spend most of my last years with our son Ryan, daughter Rachel and our two precious granddaughters. Death at 59 was never in our plan. This whole ordeal has taken so much from my family, but it has taught us some valuable truths. One of the most important lessons learned is that our plans and God's plans rarely align. Our plans are tentative; God is ultimately in charge.
Spend quality time with your loved ones. Put your phone down, pause your work, and give them hugs. Tell them how proud you are of them. Do life with them! They need you.
Most of all, if you haven't already, ask Jesus into your life and find a church home. Eternal life is a free gift to anyone who puts their faith in Jesus Christ. You don't have to be "good enough". You CAN'T be good enough. Romans 10:9 says "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and you believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved".
To all my friends and family, thank you. I hope to see you again! With all my love, Andrew John Weyker."
Thank you so much to the staff at Heartland Hospice and Cherry Meadows Hospice for the care and respect given to Andy and Kim in his final days. Also, thank you to Dr. Sharilla, Dr. Anton, and the VA ALS team.
