Andromahi Nakos

Andromahi "Mahi" (Tsanotelis) Nakos, 88, formerly of Manchester, died November 28, 2023 at Carlyle Place in Bedford after a period of declining health.

She was born in Pentalofos, Greece on February 15, 1935 to Nicholas and Soultana (Papajohn) Tsanotelis. She immigrated to the United States in 1946 and was a lifelong resident of Manchester.

She graduated from Maynard School and Central High School, both in Manchester and maintained lifelong friendships with classmates.

Along with her husband, Peter, she owned and operated Nakos Dress Shop in Manchester for 25 years. She later worked at Amoskeag Bank, and until age 84, in food service at Beech Street School in Manchester.

Andromahi was proud of her Greek heritage and was a devoted communicant at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Manchester. Also, she was an active member of the Pentalofos Society.

Andromahi enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be remembered for her hospitality, generosity, pointed observations and her love of cooking. Anyone who visited her house would be offered something to eat, whether it was a meal, a cookie or a piece of fruit.

She was predeceased by her husband of 37 years, Panagiotis "Peter" Nakos in 1997 and her brother, George Tsanotelis.

Andromahi is survived by two sons, Loukas Nakos and his wife, Christine, of Nashua and Mark Nakos and his wife, Sue, of Manchester; five grandchildren, Jaclyn Page and her husband, Joey, Hayley Nakos, Rachel Nakos, Peter Nakos and Maxwell Nakos; a sister-in-law, Debbie Tsanotelis; and cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Carlyle Place for the care, concern and love they extended to her.

SERVICES: A calling hour is on Tuesday (12/5) from 9 to 10 a.m. followed immediately at 10 a.m. by a funeral service, all at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 650 Hanover St., Manchester. Committal prayers will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Calef Road, Manchester.
