Anetra Chanel Odem Hillman

Anetra Chanel Odem Hillman, born on March 2, 1974, to Barbara Ann Taylor Odem and William Odem, passed peacefully from this life on April 26, 2025, at 51. Anetra's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, laughter, and a deep sense of faith, leaving behind cherished memories for all who knew her.
A proud graduate of Elizabethton High School in Elizabethton, TN, she lived in a couple different places before meeting her best friend, DeMarcus Hillman (Cheno). After two years of dating, they settled in Georgia and married for 19 years, they created a loving home that was a haven for her daughter, Jada, and Anetra's beloved nieces, Sydney and Cameron. Her family was always center to who she was, and she dedicated herself to nurturing and supporting them.
Professionally, Anetra dedicated many years to the medical field, excelling in medical records and payments.
Her hard work led her to a leadership position with Trinity Health, where she had spent seven rewarding years.
Anetra was a woman of deep faith and spirituality, finding comfort and community at Brown's Chapel A.M.E. Zion, which she proudly considered her church home. She enjoyed singing in the choir, praying, and engaging in Bible study groups. Her love for music extended beyond the church walls; whether singing, dancing, or celebrating like a proud "Beehive" fan, Anetra's joyful spirit was evident in everything she did.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Ann Taylor Odem; her sister, Reese Taylor; and her beloved grandparents, Fred and Mary Duffield Taylor, and Thomas Wade, Sr and Lenora Odem Wade.
She is survived by her loving husband, DeMarcus "Cheno" Hillman; her cherished daughter, Jada Odem; her father, William Odem; her sisters Joanna Fain, Teneice Odem, Tanya Odem Wright; and brother Eric (Kari) Patton. Anetra will also be remembered by her special nieces, Sydney Taylor, Cameron (Henry) Ramirez, great niece Valery Molina, great nephew Noah Ramirez, and her godson Zion Reddick, along with a plethora of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who adored her.
Anetra will be fondly remembered for her witty humor, generosity, and unwavering belief in helping others. Her infectious smile and zest for life, marked by dancing and singing, were hallmarks of her vibrant personality. While we grapple with the loss of her physical presence, we find peace in knowing her spirit lives on through her love of music and the profound impact she made on the lives of many. Anetra was not just a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, but a beacon of love and joy. She will be forever missed, and until we meet again, her legacy will be missed.
