Angela D'Andrea Obituary

Published by Legacy on Mar. 31, 2026.
Mrs. Angela "Tootsie" (Accuosti) D'Andrea, age 96, a lifelong resident of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at the Lutheran Home in Southbury. She was the devoted wife of the late Angelo D'Andrea, to whom she was married for 69 years at the time of his death in 2022.

Born in Waterbury on February 19, 1930, Angela was the daughter of the late Domenico and Vita "Sadie" (Vaccaro) Accuosti. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Thomas Church and Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Angela worked for the family business, Accuosti Caterers and for Par Precision, from which she retired. Above all, her most cherished role was that of wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Angela was deeply devoted to her family and built her life around them. She took great pride in preparing Sunday dinners, ensuring everyone gathered around the table each week. She found joy in her yard and the flowers, and she enjoyed watching her husband work in his garden-often using his homegrown vegetables in her cooking. Angela also enjoyed trips to the beach and visits to the casino, and she was an avid New York Yankees fan, with a special admiration for Derek Jeter.

Angela is survived by her son, Thomas D'Andrea and his companion Robert Adams of Danbury; her daughters, Linda DeBellis and her husband Ronald of Thomaston and Joann Shugrue and her husband Tom of Bartlett, New Hampshire; and her beloved grandchildren, Lindsay DeBellis and her companion Joseph Copija of Torrington, Christopher DeBellis and his wife Arlene of Peoria, AZ, Michael Shugrue and his wife Laurie of East Lyme, Erin Szafran and her husband Adam of Gray, ME, and Michelle Beaule and her husband Ian of Casco, ME.

She also leaves her nine cherished great-grandchildren: Jordan, Julia, Jones, Parker, Addison, Wyatt, Sylvie, Felix, and Leona, as well as several generations of nieces and nephews. Angela was predeceased by her brothers, Anthony Accuosti, Robert Accuosti, and Ronald Accuosti and her sister Sadie Accuosti.

Angela's family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of the Lutheran Home for the outstanding and compassionate care shown to "Gramma" during her years with them.

Angela's funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at 9:00am from Maiorano Funeral Home, 95 Willow Street in Waterbury, to Our Lady of Lourdes Church for a Mass at 11:00am. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends may visit with Angela's family Tuesday morning from 9:00-10:30am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Angela's name may be made to: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Memorials Processing, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959 or online at www.Stjude.org.
