Angela R. Grieco, 99, of Hanover, NH, and formerly of
Methuen, MA, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative & Hospice Care in Lebanon, NH.
Born in
Methuen, MA, on October 5, 1926, Angela was the daughter of the late Joseph and Frances (Melucci) Catalano. She was educated in Methuen schools and attended Searles High School. Angela was married to the love of her life, Louis A. Grieco, with whom she shared many loving years until his passing.
Angela and Louis owned and operated The Elegante Novelty Company on Essex Street in Lawrence from 1968 to 1988. Prior to that, they ran The Elegante Bridal Shop on Merrimac Street in Lowell, MA. They were the first generation of wedding planners. They didn't just sell wedding gowns and rent tuxedos, but also helped arrange photography, reception & catering, flowers, entertainment, party favors, and everything in between, right down to the bows on the pews and the white carpet used in bridal processions.
Angela was extremely hardworking and an amazing planner. Whether for a holiday meal, work deadline, family event, or just part of her daily routine, she tackled every task with determination, efficiency, and skill. Angela especially found joy in cooking and gathering her family around the table. Her warmth, generosity, and devotion to her loved ones were true hallmarks of her life.
Her adoration for her late husband, Louis, was realized to its fullest extent during the final years of his life. Angela cared for her husband with a type of love and devotion that embodied the term selflessness in Louis's greatest time of need.
She is survived by her son, John L. Grieco of Salem, NH; her daughter, JoAnn Salazar and her husband Orlando of Haverhill, MA, and her step-daughter Theresa Fay of Hampton, NH; her grandchildren, Jolin Salazar-Kish, Brian Salazar, Mary Royce, Penny Plichta, Darlene Weber, Kim Polovick; and several step-grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many extended family members and friends.
