Angela Marie Hungate, age 59, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away on May 26, 2025, after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Her Faith Over Fear mindset never wavered.
Born in San Antonio, Texas on July 11, 1965, Angela was the daughter of Frank Gomez Jr. and Marie Gomez. She graduated from John Marshall High School as Class President in 1983 and attended the University of Texas at Austin. Angela met the love of her life, Tommy Hungate, in Jester Dormitory in 1984 and graduated together in 1987. Angela earned a double major degree in Finance and Marketing. After five years of dating, the two were married on November 18, 1989, and were blessed with 35 wonderful years. God graced them with two amazing children: Brianna Jacobson and Bailey Hungate.
Angela spent her first five professional years working for MBank in Austin, Texas, as a Financial Analyst. She then returned to The University of Texas at Austin earning her Master's degree from the McCombs School of Business. After graduation, she landed an internship with Procter & Gamble in San Antonio and was soon offered a full-time position calling on H-E-B.
Over her 31-year career at Procter & Gamble, Angela was passionate, committed, and fearless in her Senior Account Executive roles on the H-E-B Team, CIA Team, and ISC Team. She consistently had a positive presence and was known to bring warmth and integrity to the workplace. She considered the life-long friends she formed along the way the most meaningful perks of the job.
Angela dedicated her life to her family. She was a master multitasker – balancing career, wife, mom, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She raised her two children (she often joked Tommy was her third) with character and conviction, confidence and compassion, and instilled in them a never-quit, positive spirit, and a love for life.
Her deep faith and strong belief were as evident as her big smile and genuine kindness. She was a devoted member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Catholic Church and thrived in her volunteer roles. She gave her time generously to St. Vincent de Paul on the Food Bank Team and as Financial Assistance Director. Angela also served on ACTS Team, attended ACTS retreats, and for the past two years served as an assistant leader for the We Care cancer support group.
Angela is preceded in death by her father, Frank Gomez Jr.;grandmother, Marie "Pia" Rodriguez; great-grandmother, Eleanor "Chita" Hernandez; uncle, Joe Benavides; in-laws, Thomas and Patricia Hungate; niece, Jessica Shirley; best friend, Mark Costanzi; and nephew, Chase Doggett.
Angela is survived by her loving husband and best friend, Tommy Hungate; her cherished daughter, Brianna Jacobson, and husband Dallas Jacobson; her beloved son, Bailey Hungate, and Fiancée Karissa Delafuente. She is also survived by her gracious mother, Marie Gomez; brother, Frank Gomez III and wife Beth;sister, Vikki Gomez; as well as her many nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, co-workers, and brothers and sisters in Christ.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Angela's amazing support system for the endless love, encouragement, and care. She lived her life with complete trust in God and wore her heart on her sleeve, and in doing so touched more lives than she ever knew.
Special thanks to the numerous 8:00 p.m. daily prayer warriors, her breast cancer survivor friends who embraced her, those who accompanied her to treatments, the San Antonio START Center staff and Dr. Gladys Rodriguez, and the countless people who gave hundreds of encouraging cards, sticky notes, text messages, food, gifts, and love.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her memory to SEAS St. Vincent de Paul to help Angela's legacy live by empowering others to serve those in need at SEAS Giving. While the church will still graciously receive floral arrangements, Angela's greatest wish was to support the cause closest to her heart.
