Jose F. Gonzales Jr., a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2025, in his hometown of San Antonio, Texas. Born on December 6, 1966, in the same vibrant city, Jose lived a life marked by love, service, and an unwavering commitment to his family and country.
Preceded in death by his parents, Jose F. Gonzales Sr. and Enriqueta Gonzales, his brother Victor Joel Gonzales, and his beloved daughter Cathy Marie Gonzales, Jose's legacy of warmth and generosity lives on through his family. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Samantha Gonzales, who stood by him through life's many journeys. Their bond was a testament to enduring love and mutual respect.
Jose is survived by his children, Jose (Rosalie) Gonzales III, Christopher (Maggie) Matthew Gonzales, Erika Gonzales, Trinidad (Jose) Garcia, Alyssa (Anselmo) Flores, and Gabriel Alexzander Gonzales, will forever cherish the lessons and laughter he shared with them. His twenty grandchildren, who brought him immense joy, will continue to be guided by his wisdom and kindness.
He is also survived by his siblings, Sandra (Belen) Flores, Mary Frances (Phillip) Samuldio, and Sonya (Ramiro) Enriquez, who will miss his humor and friendship. His numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends and extended family members will remember Jose for his friendly nature and the camaraderie he extended to all. Jose's spirit is carried forward by his loyal dog, Troy, who was more than a pet but a true companion.
A proud American patriot, Jose served his country with honor in the Marines. His love for his nation was paralleled only by his faith, as he lived his life as a devout Christian, embodying the principles of his belief through his actions and interactions.
Above all, Jose was a family man. He loved spending time with his family and his dog, creating memories that will be treasured forever. Described by those who knew him as loving, funny, and friendly, Jose's presence was a source of joy and comfort.
Jose F. Gonzales Jr.'s life was a tapestry of dedication, laughter, and love. His impact on the lives he touched will be felt for generations to come, and his memory will be held in the hearts of many. As we bid farewell to a man of great character and warmth, we celebrate the enduring spirit of Jose, a man who truly made the world a better place.
