Angela Sanchez Obituary
Angela G Sanchez, born on September 6, 1933, in Grants, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2026, in her beloved hometown. Angela dedicated her life to her community and faith, exemplifying the virtues of a devout Catholic woman. She was a lifelong member of the St. Teresa Catholic Church in Grants, where she actively participated in church activities and served on the St. Teresa Catholic School board.
Her career began at Grants Public Schools, followed by a brief period working for the city of Grants. However, Angela found her true calling as the secretary to the superintendents of Grants Schools, a role she cherished for an impressive 37 years. Throughout her career, she became a proud member of the Retirees Group and the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, where she formed lasting friendships and contributed to the community.
Angela’s life was enriched by her love for travel, often enjoying vacations with her beloved husband and friends. She also found joy in reading and spent many afternoons trying her luck at the casino. Angela's warm spirit and zest for life left a profound impact on those who knew her.
Angela is survived by her devoted sons, Clifford (Esther), Frank and Tom (Bernadette), and her cherished grandchildren, Tomas (Melissa), Elam (Claudia), Maria, Katy, and Thomas (Amber). She was blessed to have great-grandchildren, Mia, Sofia, Sonya, Madison, Cameron, Noah, Thesus, and Tiel, Raylynn, along with her great-great-grandson, Ezra. Angela is also survived by her beloved sister, Bernadette (Dwight), and her nephews, Derek (Sarah), and Kurt.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Joe C. Sanchez, as well as her parents, Tomas and Rosita Garcia, and her in-laws, Francisco and Maria Inez Sanchez.
In honor of Angela’s life and legacy, family and friends are invited to a Rosary service at St Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Grants, NM, on February 26, 2026, at 10:15 AM, followed by a Mass at 11:00 AM. A burial will take place at Grants Memorial Park Cemetery at 12:00 PM the same day.
Angela G Sanchez will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for her unwavering faith, her dedication to her family, and her commitment to her community. May she rest in peace.
