Angelina Lucia Colagiovanni (Tracy), 83, of Troy Township, passed away surrounded by her family peacefully on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at Ohman Family Living at Blossom. She was born on June 7, 1941, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Antonio and Christina (Nero) Colagiovanni.
Angelina graduated from Villa Angela High School and entered the Ursuline Convent in 1959; while there she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education from St. John's College. Angelina (Sister Carmencita) dedicated her career to teaching first and second grade in local Catholic schools (St, Ann's, St. Agatha, and St. John of Arc). She was passionate about education and touched the lives of many young students. Angelina left the convent in 1969 to start a family with a local US Marine, John J. Tracy.
Angelina had a wide range of interests and hobbies and lived a very full life. She was a homemaker and the mother of five children. She was an active Naturalist, Political Volunteer, and member of the Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) in the Berkshire School System in the 1970s and 1980s, before earning certification as a massage therapist through the Kripalu Institute in Stockbridge, Massachusetts in 1994. She loved music, gardening, painting, pottery, ceramics, and macramé. Angelina fostered children through Catholic Charities, was a CCD teacher along with a vacation bible schoolteacher every summer, and involved with Metzenbaum Adult Services. Later in life, she took piano lessons and enjoyed practicing Tai Chi. She also had a deep love for dance, participating in line dancing, clogging, polka, and tap dancing. Angelina enjoyed watching movies, listening to NPR ("Car Talk" was her favorite) and watching her favorite actor Tom Selleck in "Magnum P.I."and actress Lucille Ball in "I Love Lucy." The simple pleasures of her long walks, chocolate, and bird feeding brought her great joy.
Angelina's most favorite job ever was being a grandmother. She loved and cherished her grandchildren with all of her heart and unwavering support. At her home you could always find joy, warmth and laughter with her doing crafts with her grandchildren, having puppet shows, watching movies, jumping on the trampoline and making snacks such as beets, ice-cube popsicles, burritos and everyone's favorite pizza with broccoli. She absolutely loved spending time with her grandkids. Her grandchildren will forever remember her as kind, caring, loving, never yelling, and playful.
Angelina was a wonderful person, beloved aunt, friend to all, generous with her time, and selfless. The annual planning and holding of family reunions brought her great pleasure. Everyone was welcome at her table, where the food was abundant, and her loved ones would stay for hours to talk, listen, and learn. She was described by friends and family as sweet, understanding, loved everyone for who they were, and made them feel safe and important, the best of us and ahead of her time. Her infectious and unforgettable smile and laugh will live on forever in all our hearts.
She will be deeply missed by her children, Joseph (Julie) Tracy, John (Theresa) Tracy, Jennifer (Noah) McGowan, Joan (Phil) Laudato, and Julie (Steve) Strmen; her beloved grandchildren, Sophia, Lilian, Logan, Ella, Ava, Chase, Tristan, Lila, and Vince; her brother, Christopher Colagiovanni; and her dearest friend and former spouse of 22 years, John J. Tracy.
Angelina was preceded in death by her parents, Antonio and Christina, and her brothers, John and Anthony Colagiovanni.
