Angeline Helen Garris was born on February 10, 1940 in San Fernando, Trinidad, West Indies, to Clarence and Dorothy Poliah. She was the first daughter and third of eight siblings; the late Ellsworth (Sonny) Poliah and Ken Poliah, Frank (Baba) Poliah, Marion (Mala) Poliah, Merle Bassant nee Poliah, George (Bobby) Poliah, and Wayne Poliah. Angeline passed away peacefully in her sleep at midnight on September 19, 2025, following a long battle with congestive heart failure. She spent the last few weeks of her life at her oldest granddaughter's home, being meticulously cared for by her daughter and eldest granddaughter, as an expression of love and gratitude for her devotion and many sacrifices she made for everyone in her lifetime.

Angeline immigrated to the United States in 1993, at the age of 53, to be with the love of her life and husband, Charles Garris. She was an excellent seamstress, sewing the simplest shirts to the most extravagant dresses. She was also an excellent cook and baker. Angeline enjoyed travelling to many places with her husband, including many states in America and European countries inclusive of Spain and Portugal. She was an active member of her church and volunteered for many years at North Florida Regional Medical Center.

Angeline will be most remembered for her selflessness, empathy, and concern. She always looked for the good in others; embracing strangers, overlooking wrongdoings, and feeding the poor. She loved her family with all her heart.

Angeline leaves behind her children: Paul, Gail, and Colin; grandchildren: Sonya, Aidan, Gianna, Adam; great grandchildren: Lilliana, Gabriella, Ethan; nieces and nephews: Shenley, Arlene, Ravi, Lisa, Luke, Sadie, Silas, Andy, Anisa, Damien and Tamara (Tammy); many dear friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Garris, who passed away one year prior on September 18, 2024.

Rest in the arms of our Mighty Savior and Loving God. Your life here on earth was rewarding and touched the hearts of all of your loved ones.
