Born on Christmas Day 1926, to Anthony and Josephine Fotia ( Sessa ), Angeline passed peacefully into eternal rest on July 4, 2025 concluding a long battle with dementia.
Angie, was married to the late John Szakacs Jr. for 76 years until his passing in August of 2021. She is survived by her sons; John A ( Susan ) of Medina and James F ( Robin ) of North Royalton. She was a resident of North Royalton, Ohio for 67 years. Angie devoted her life to her family and home and was known for her hospitality and awesome cooking skills. No one could visit without enjoying at least a cup of coffee and a pastry.
As a child of the depression and WWII, she regaled friends and relatives with tales of growing up on the west side of Cleveland and tending her father's shoe maker shop on Lorain Ave. Though she did not travel often, on a trip to New York City in the late 70's, she and John somehow managed to have lunch with Barry Manilow. She was unaware of his celebrity status.
She is the grandmother of six; Steven, Scott ( Jenifer) & Jennifer Szakacs, Melissa ( Gabe ) Antonelli, Timothy ( Kate ) Szakacs, and Stefanie ( Jason ) Sweet. She is the great grandmother of eight.
Following the passing of her beloved husband, she resided with her son, John ( Sue ) in Medina until her health required her to move into nursing care at Willowood Care Center in Medina. The family wishes to thank the staff of Willowood and Hospice of the Western Reserve for their exceptional care during her very difficult final six months.
