Michael Joseph McKim

Michael J. McKim, age 64, passed away Saturday, March 14, 2026.

Beloved husband of nearly 40 years of Martha "Mini" (nee Honard); loving father of Aaron (deceased), Sarah, Emily, and Rachel; devoted grandfather of Kayden, Jace, Rylie, Luna, and Everly; treasured son of Mary (nee Kunesh) and the late James McKim; cherished brother of J. Christopher (Pam), Julia, and Ellen (deceased), brother-in-law of Mark (Robin), Carol, and Joni (Pete); and uncle of several nephews and a niece.

Mike earned degrees from Bowling Green and Kent State University and held a master's degree in geology. It wasn't just a field of study to him, but a passion that he developed into a career as an environmental consultant for AECOM. He worked for them for over 35 years before health issues prevented him from continuing in the job he loved.

Mike was not just an intelligent man, but also skilled with his hands. He enjoyed building projects and home remodeling. In fact, his family would joke that his house never looked the same from year to year. He had a love of cooking and grilling, and his Christmas tenderloin was his specialty. He was a lifelong Browns and Indians fan, who stuck by them loyally through thick and thin!

Mike enjoyed the outdoors and especially loved boating, though he never did acquire one of his own. He treasured the family's yearly vacations to places such as Hilton Head and the national parks. Mike found one of his favorite rocks at the bottom of the Grand Canyon, the Vishnu Schist, one of the oldest rocks in the US!

What mattered to Mike and what he treasured most, was his family! Nothing was more important to him than his wife and children. When he became a grandfather, his world shifted and revolved around those who called him "Papa"!

Mike will be remembered by others for many things including his love of geology, his skills in the kitchen, his joy on the water, and his dedication to his favorite teams. He will best be remembered for his simple kindness, his easy going and down-to-earth nature, and his generosity. These traits are something rare and precious these days, and a true loss to all those who knew him!

Cremation by Busch Crematory.

Visitation will be Friday, March 20, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Busch Funeral Home, 7501 Ridge Rd., Parma, OH 44129.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Church, 12700 Pearl Rd, Strongsville, OH 44136. Inurnment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Brook Park.
