Angelo Bastoni Obituary

Published by Legacy on Mar. 27, 2026.
Angelo "Angie" Bastoni of Kingston, MA, passed away peacefully at BID Hospital in Plymouth on Monday, March 23, 2026. He was just shy of 101 years old. Angelo was born to Maria and Giuseppe Bastoni in Plymouth, MA, on April 30, 1925. He grew up in North Plymouth with his 10 siblings, where he learned the values of hard work, family, and community that guided him throughout his life. In 1943, at the age of 18, Angelo joined the US Army. He was deployed to England in 1944 and, as part of "Company A," landed on Utah Beach on D-Day. He fought through France and Belgium, including the Battle of the Bulge, and supported the first American troops to enter Germany. Wounded in action, Angelo received both the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star, honors that reflect his courage and selflessness.

After the war, Angelo returned home and married Frances "Mae" Nutterville in 1946. Together, they built a life and raised their six children in North Plymouth. Angelo worked as a weaver and later managed the Lobster Mart on Plymouth Wharf, eventually joining the Plymouth school system, where he retired in 1990. After decades in Massachusetts, Angelo and Mae spent 30 sun-filled years in Florida before returning to Kingston in 2020 to be close to family.

As a young man, Angie enjoyed playing baseball and basketball, and later found joy in saltwater fishing. He was a devoted fan of all Boston sports, cheering on the Red Sox, Celtics, and Bruins. He enjoyed doing simple woodworking projects, tried his hand at painting, and in recent years discovered a passion for baking pies – especially for the staff at the Memory Care Unit who so lovingly cared for his wife, Mae. Even in his later years, he remained active, enjoying the Kingsbury Club pool and forming many new friendships at The Residence at Wingate.

Angelo and Mae shared nearly 79 years before Mae's passing at the age of 99 in June 2025. He is survived by his children, Kathy Hall (Kevin) of Amherst, NH; Tom Bastoni (Debbie) of Greenville, SC; Peggy Hall (Gary) of Kingston, MA; Joni Mazzilli (Paul) of Carver, MA; Peter Bastoni (Beth) of Troy, NH; and Mary Rebman (Tom) of Fryeburg, ME; and by his 20 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great- grandchildren. He also leaves behind his sister, Dorothy Zagarri, and brother Alfred Bastoni of Kingston. The newest member of the family carries his name, a living testament to his enduring legacy.

Angelo lived a full life. He will be remembered not only for his service and accomplishments but for his humor and love that he shared with all who knew him. A Funeral Mass will be said at St. Mary's Church, 313 Court Street, Plymouth, MA, on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Angelo's name to Tunnels to Towers (T2T.org), or St. Jude Children's Hospital (stjude.org) - two causes he supported with his whole heart.
