Born in Oklahoma on December 9, 1936, and passed away in San Francisco at CPMC, Van Ness Campus on August 11, 2023.
Survived by her husband of 57 years, Richard M. Bastoni of San Francisco, her dog Ani, and nieces Cheryl Bastoni Laliberte (Brian) and Kristin Bastoni Frazee (Jason). Predeceased by her parents, Lee and Goldie (Hudspeth) Evans, her in-laws Mario and Elsie Bastoni, brothers-in-law Robert Bastoni (Katherine), and Leonard Bastoni, many cousins and numerous rescue dogs.
Darla graduated high school from Greenbrier College in West Virginia, Bachelor of Arts from Mills College in Oakland, Master of Art from UC Berkeley, Bachelor of Foreign Trade with highest honors, Thunderbird Graduate School for International Management in Phoenix, Arizona.
Darla and her husband, Richard, co-founded Evans Pacific Realtor in 1969-1989. She became the manager partner of the family-owned Evans Lumber Company in 1978.
Darla was a member of the Metropolitan Club in San Francisco for over 50 years and the Cerele de L'Union Interalliee, Paris.
Darla was a philanthropist and gave generously to many causes.
Opera was Darla's passion. She was on the Merola Opera board for 18 years and sponsored many young opera singers through the San Francisco Opera Merola and Adler programs.
Darla was equally passionate about animals and many dogs became treasured family members. She was on the Board of the Humane Society of S0onoma County for many years and served as President for one of those years.
She traveled the world and spent considerable time in Paris and Madrid. She loved safaris, especially the lemurs in Madagascar. At her request there will be no service.
