Obituary of Angelo Cappellari
With profound love and gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we announce the passing of Angelo Cappellari, who went home to the Lord on February 14, 2026, at the age of 86.
Born on March 21, 1939, in Villafranca Padovana Italy, Angelo carried his Italian roots proudly throughout his life. God bestowed many blessings and miracles upon him, for which he often expressed deep gratitude.
Angelo was an extraordinary husband, devoted papà, a cherished nonno, and a loving zio and cognato. His family was the center of his world, and he loved them with a quiet strength and unwavering dedication that will live on in each of them. He leaves behind a legacy that will continue to guide and comfort those who are blessed to call him theirs.
Gardening was not simply a hobby - - it was his passion. Angelo took immense pride in cultivating phenomenal fruits and vegetables: tomatoes, figs, persimmons, zucchini, string beans, peas, and more. The quality and flavors of his harvest could never be purchased from a store.
Angelo also created fabulous meals for his family. He enjoyed listening to Italian music, with the accordion being his favorite instrument. Since his youth, he has been a loyal fan of the AC Milan soccer team. Forza Milan! He also loved visiting the Atlantic City boardwalk and going on his iPad.
Angelo honorably served in the Italian army, stationed in Imperia and Rome. He later worked in Switzerland with metal fabrication before life led him towards his greatest love story. He met the true love of his life, Mattea (Sciolis), at the Roma Termini train station on July 28, 1969. Their meeting was the beginning of a beautiful journey. At the age of 31, Angelo came to the United States, where they were married and built a life together, raising two precious children.
In America, Angelo worked diligently in factories and a body shop before dedicating many years as a custodian with Vineland Public Schools until his retirement. He became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1999, embracing his dual citizenship with deep pride - - a legacy that he lovingly passed on to his children and grandson.
Angelo leaves behind his precious wife of 55 years, Mattea; his beloved son, Dino (Ailyn); his devoted daughter Diana (Marcos), all of Vineland; and his treasured grandson Dominick of
Victor, NY. He will be deeply missed by dear friends and family in NJ, as well as his cherished nieces, nephews, sister-in-law, and family in Italy and Germany.
Angelo and his family are deeply grateful to the doctors and nurses who provided him with care and compassion.
Though his hands now rest, the seeds he planted, in the soil and in the hearts of those who loved him, will continue to grow for generations. We find comfort in knowing that Angelo has been welcomed into Heaven, reunited with loved ones, and embraced by the eternal light of God's grace.
A mass and burial will be private
