Aniela Borun, 99, passed away on February 20, 2026, at Newberry Health Hospital with family by her side. She was born on November 1, 1926, in Ruda, Poland to Jan and Agnieszka (Rudnicka) Wicijowski.
Aniela’s life was one marked by resilience, courage, and deep love for her family. After surviving the hardships of being a prisoner of WW II, Aniela was placed on a train to Italy by the Red Cross. Months later, she traveled to England, where she joined the army under British Command. There she met the love of her life Jacenty. The two married and built a life together rooted in strength and devotion. In 1951, they immigrated to the US in search of new opportunities. She worked in the textile industry and was a devote member of St. Hedwig. In her quieter moments, she found happiness in her flowers, vegetable gardens, knitting and cooking.
Her life was a testament to survival, faith, and family, and her legacy will continue through the generations she leaves behind. Family includes a son, Mark Borun, wife Jeannette, of Auburn, NH, a daughter, Lucyna Thompson, husband Mark, of Prosperity, SC, grandchildren Timothy, Angela, Jennifer, Derek, Caitlin, and Kelsey. Great grandchildren Michael, Nicholas, Lauren, Brooke, Rylee, Jonas, Jyles, Jayla, Rylee Lucyna, Skyla, Gracie Mae, Josiah, and Cora. Funeral services will be held in New Hampshire.
