Anita Colman

Anita Colman of Warwick, NY, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2025, at Chilton Memorial Hospital in Pequannock, NJ, with her children by her side, following a brief illness.
Anita was born on July 27, 1930, in Newark, NJ, to Peter and Catherine (née McCaffery) McEvoy, who emigrated from County Cavan, Ireland. She graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in Montclair, NJ, and worked as a payroll manager for Allied Chemical Company in Edgewater, NJ.
She left the workforce to raise her family, always encouraging her children to pursue what made them happy-as long as it was honest.
Anita was a devoted parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in the Vailsburg section of Newark and an active member of several Irish cultural organizations in New Jersey.
After relocating to Warwick in 1979, Anita became deeply involved in the community and her parish, St. Stephen's Church. There, she held leadership roles in several organizations, including the Holy Rosary Society, The Catholic Daughters of America, the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, and the Gaelic Cultural Society.
Anita is survived by her son, Peter G. Colman, and his wife, Hadley J. Friedman, of Lubec, ME; her daughter, Eileen M. Geyer, and her husband, Brian S. Geyer, of Rowley, MA; and her beloved grandchildren: Kirk Geyer, Alissa Geyer, Lakota Bowen, and Summit Colman. She also leaves behind cherished grand-pets: Olaf, Emma, Elby, Rassan, and Daphne, along with a large extended family of loving nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband of more than 58 years, Patrick J. Colman, and her sister, Mary McNerney.
The family will receive friends on June 30, 2025 6pm – 8pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on July 1, 2025 at 11am at St. Stephen RC Church, 75 Sanfordville Road, Warwick, NY, followed by interment in St. Stephen's Cemetery, 50 Galloway Road, Warwick, NY.
