With heavy hearts and a deep gratitude of love for a life beautifully lived, we announce the passing of Anita Marie Harvin, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, who departed this life peacefully in Tallahassee, Florida on September 28, 2025.
Anita was born on November 6, 1940. She attended Leon High School and retired from the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. Anita was a woman of quiet strength, boundless compassion, grace and unwavering faith. Her life was a testament to love in action-whether through her nurturing care, her wise counsel, or the warmth of her presence. She was the heart of her family, a steady light in times of joy and sorrow, a peacemaker and a source of comfort to all who knew her.
Anita shared a loving marriage with her husband, James Harvin, and together they built a home filled with warmth, laughter, and enduring love. She raised her children, James Kevin Harvin, Anita Kay Morton, and Wesley Kim Harvin, with grace and resilience, instilling in them the values of kindness, humility, and perseverance. Her grandchildren, Serena Aman and Kimberly Harvin, and great-grandchildren, Jacob Nelson and Noah Aman knew her as a gentle soul with a radiant smile, always ready with a hug, a story, or a prayer.
Anita loved the simple things in life. She loved her coffee and would spend hours working on her picture puzzles and sharing them with her family. Every afternoon she looked forward to watching a movie and sharing a bowl of popcorn with her sweet baby girl Kay Kay. She was never too busy to sit down and watch her great-grandson, Jacob, play Roblox in her brown recliner chair or sing songs to him and watch TV together. She loved holding her new great grandbaby, Noah, and sharing the wonders of this world with him.
To her great-grandson Jacob she was Ms. Monarch, a beautiful butterfly full of grace and beauty. Her son, Kevin, was her pride and joy who was always perfect in her eyes and no matter how flawed he might be she always encouraged and supported him. Her granddaughter, Serena, was the apple of her eye whom she loved and admired with all her heart. She loved her daughter-in-law, Letty, and always admired her for her strength and love for her family.
Anita loved to travel and go places with her family. Whether it was a trip to Disney World, the Tallahassee Museum, The 850 or Publix, every trip was an adventure that brought her great joy and pleasure. Most of all, Anita was a woman with a beautiful spirit and a love for Jesus who always put the needs of her family ahead of her own. She was adored by her family and loved by her friends and neighbors. With her Howdy Doody face, her love of Spambalaya and kindness towards others she always brought out the best in people. Her love was a light that will never dim and her spirit a beauty that will never fade.
The Apostle Paul wrote: "But as it is written: Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him." - 1 Corinthians 2:9
Mama now sees what God has prepared for her. She has heard the words of our Lord "Well done good and faithful servant, enter into the Kingdom I have prepared for you." She will be missed by all of us, but we rejoice in her homecoming to heaven, reunited with her loving husband, her son, Kim, and her beautiful granddaughter, Kimberly. Rest in the arms of Jesus, Mama, for your work here on earth is done.
Anita is survived by her children: James Kevin Harvin (Letty Harvin), Anita Kay Morton; grandchild, Serena Aman (Daniel Aman); great-grandchildren: Jacob Nelson (father, Matt Nelson) and Noah Aman; siblings: Bill Treadaway (Edna Treadaway) and Connie Bennett; her best friend, June Elmore; her grand dog, Cash; and a host of extended family and dear friends. Anita was preceded in death by her husband, James Edwin Harvin; son, Wesley Kim Harvin; granddaughter, Kimberly Kay Harvin; and sister, Norma Whiddon who all now welcome her home in heaven.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Aucilla Christian Academy, reflecting Anita's love for children and for her community.
