Mrs. Anita Ann Lynum-Turner was born March 3, 1963 to the parentage of the late Mr. George Edward Lynum and the late Mrs. Louella Thomas Lynum. She departed this life January 30, 2025.
Anita, affectionately known as NeNe Joined the Cedar Fork Baptist Church at an early age. She loved the Lord and one of her last acts of service was lifting up her hands in praise to Him. Anita had a great love for singing, and she used her gift in the church choir. Her family, both near and far, was special to her; she loved them very much.
As a young girl, NeNe had a flair for fashion and cosmetology. Even though she was forbidden to wear makeup at such an early age, she did it anyway. Her famous quote was "I'm Just going to put on a little lip rouge". Because of her fair complexion, her father referred to her as his 'red girl.
Anita graduated from the Clark County High School, Grove Hill, Alabama in 1981. Immediately after graduating, she enrolled in the Job Corp. Upon completion of her studies, she relocated to New York, leaving her two sons behind; her life was incomplete. Therefore, she and Sis. Debbie Webb traveled to Alabama and brought the boys back, uniting the family once again. October 27, 1989, Anita met the love of her life, Henry Turner. While there were no children born to this union, Henry became the proud parents of two son, Kadisheil (Yodie) and Dimitris.
In 1985, Anita was baptized and filled with the Holy Ghost under the leadership of Elder James Teams. Her service in the ministry continued under the leadership of District Elder Lonnie Webb at the Refuge House of Prayer, Copiague, NY (formerly Evangelistic Church of Christ-Amityville NY) where she served faithfully in the capacity of Missionary, Women's Council, Sunday School teacher, board member, and vocalist. Sister Anita's beautiful smile, voice and willing spirit was always a welcoming beacon to all, and will be sorely missed.
Anita is preceded in death (In addition to her parents,) by her son, Kadisheil (Yodie) Lynum; brothers; Rodney (Boo) Lynum, Benjamin (Chubby) Lynum; and sister-LaKisha (Muffie) Lynum.
Many memories will linger in the hearts of her loving and devoted family; her husband, Henry Turner of 35 years of North Babylon NY, son, Dimitris Lynum of North Babylon NY; brothers; George Jerome Lynum of Rex GA, Jarvis (Cynequa) Lynum of Jackson, AL; sisters, Patricia Thomas-Lynum of Prichard AL, Minister Genet (Dennis) Horn of Whatley AL, Edith Lynum of Grove Hill, AL, Aunt Hannah Thomas of Whatley, AL; a host of loving cousins, nieces, nephews and friends; devoted cousins, Minnie Thomas, Pastor Lonnie (Debbie) Webb; and devoted friend Kathy.
