Anita Prysby Obituary

Prysby, Anita Ebert

March 29, 1946 - July 8, 2022

Anita Prysby, 76, of Greensboro, N.C., passed away unexpectedly but peacefully in her sleep on July 8, 2022.

The memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 16, at 1 p.m. at the Forbis and Dick Funeral Home at 5926 W. Friendly Avenue. There will be a reception following, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Well-Spring special occasions room (4100 Well-Spring Drive).

Anita was born in 1946 in Chicago, to Robert and Lillian Ebert. She attended Libertyville High School and then Augustana School of Nursing in Chicago. While in nursing school, she met her future husband, Charles Prysby, and they married in 1967 and moved to North Carolina a few years later.

Anita's main career was as a registered nurse, and she worked at a family practice for most of her career. She also earned a degree in interior design in 1983 and had her own business doing residential and commercial design for a number of years, and she sold (delicious!) cheesecakes as another side gig. After retiring from full-time employment in 2011, she kept herself busy with volunteer work, including teaching kids to read at Sternberger Elementary School and baking for the Interactive Resource Center.

She loved baking, singing, family trips, and cheering for the UNC basketball team (and against Duke). She was a longtime member of Ebenezer Lutheran Church.

Anita is survived by her husband of 55 years, Charles Prysby; her daughters, Michelle and Nicole Prysby; her sons-in-law, John Woodell and Will Nugent; her sisters, Alison Ebert, Kathie Behm, Carol Michalski, and Roberta Hill, and seven nieces; and her stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren, Patrick, Sarah, Brandon, Waylon, and Wren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Greensboro Urban Ministry, 305 W. Gate City Blvd., Greensboro, NC 27406; the Interactive Resource Center of Greensboro, 407 E. Washington St., Greensboro, NC 27401 or to AuthoraCare Hospice, 2500 Summit Ave., Greensboro, NC 27405.

Forbis & Dick Funeral Service, Guilford Chapel is serving the Prysby family. Their website can be accessed for friends to send memories, photos, and stories about Anita, along with messages and condolences for the family at www.forbisanddick.com, then select the tribute for Anita Prysby.

I was so sorry to hear about my cousin Anita´s untimely death. We have great memories growing up with the Ebert girls in the Chicago area and the holiday family gatherings at grandma and grandpa Ebert´s house. Anita was a sweet girl and through the years always kept in touch through Christmas cards with a newsy letter for the year and updating us on the care of her mother, my Aunt Lillian and her beautiful family. I am sure she will be missed by her loving husband and family. I pray for healing hearts!

I was so sorry to learn of Anita's passing. She was without a doubt my very favorite Doctor's nurse over my lifetime of almost 90 years. I will miss seeing her smiling face at Ebenezer. My prayers and thoughts are with you as you go thru this very difficult period in your lives. I feel privileged to have had her not only as a nurse, but a friend.
