OCONOMOWOC WI – Ann Dorothy Barker, age 83, of Oconomowoc, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2024, at Azura Memory Care in the loving, comforting care of her family.
Ann was born August 6, 1941 in Oconomowoc, a daughter of Lester and Dorothy (Schrader) Winger. In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Marshall "Marty" Barker of Hartland whom she married in 1960.
A lifelong Oconomowoc resident, Ann attended Oconomowoc High School where she was an honor student, cheerleader captain and homecoming queen. She would help out at the bar her father co-owned and is still around today "Wingers Tap". After attending Whitewater College, Ann was an award-winning teacher's aide at Ixonia School for 28 years. Ann was an avid Packers and Brewers fan.
Ann absolutely loved her home where she lived for 56 years – especially the summers when the pool would open, and she would swim with her family and friends. Ann's Christmas and 4th of July parties were events the whole family looked forward to attending every year. These parties were chances for Ann to show off her excellent cooking skills including her #1 requested tuna salad and her famous ice cream dessert. Ann always had an open-door policy and loved having people come visit and see her beautifully decorated home for each season of the year. Ann's Christmas decorating was legendary!
Ann is survived by her three children, Debbie (Patrick) Slavin of Lantana, TX; Dawn Behl of Colleyville, TX; and Mike (Sally) Barker of Plano, TX; three grandchildren Caleb (Amanda) Slavin, Alyssa Slavin and Preston (Danielle) Bakic; and two great grandchildren Barron and Brantley Bakic all of whom reside in Texas; and her two loving sisters, Susie Gibbs and Jeanie Schlosser.
The family would like to thank Molly Johnson who supported Ann during her at-home care program which helped Ann remain in the home she loved an additional two years before she became a resident at Azura. Also, a special thanks to the tremendous staff and caregivers at Azura Memory Care of Oconomowoc for their exceptional care and loving support of Ann.
