It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Michael Lee Barker, affectionately known as "Cowboy Mike," who departed this world on July 31, 2025, at the age of 66. Born on December 29, 1958, in Wharton, Texas, Michael lived his life with a blend of dedication and joy that left an indelible mark on all who knew him.Michael was a hard worker, spending over 40 years at Wharton Livestock Auction, where he became a familiar and friendly face to all who visited. But it was his passion for bowling that truly defined him. Michael made history as the first bowler to score a perfect 300 game at the El Campo Bowling Alley, a feat celebrated with two sanctioned rings and a plaque commemorating his incredible run of 11 strikes in a row. His tenacity and skill on the lanes were as impressive as his warm spirit off them. When he wasn't working or bowling, you could find Michael gathered with friends, playing a few hands of Texas Hold'em poker. He relished the thrill of the game, always bringing laughter and stories to the table. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Joyce Barker and sister, Linda Triplett.Michael leaves behind his sisters, Sharon Anders and husband David; and Nancy Barker; brothers, Timmy Barker and Jeffrey Barker. Along with multiple nieces and nephews and close friends.
