Ann Brown Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Birdsong Cremations from Jan. 20 to Jan. 29, 2026.
Revelation 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes… neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

Ann Marie Boyd Brown, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2026, in Houston, Texas, at the age of 85. Born on July 28, 1940, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Ann carried the spirit of her hometown with her wherever life took her.

Ann was warmth embodied-kind, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. She had a gift for making people feel at ease, whether through conversation, laughter, or a shared meal. A devoted and practicing Catholic, her faith was central to her life and a steady source of strength, grounding her through both joy and hardship.

A proud New Orleanian, Ann's passions ran deep. She loved good food, soulful music, and cheering on the New Orleans Saints with unwavering loyalty. These joys were not just pastimes; they were expressions of her identity and her love for connection, culture, and celebration.

Ann was also deeply resilient. She faced breast cancer with courage and endured the life-altering impact of Hurricane Katrina, which ultimately led her to relocate to Houston to be closer to her sister, Lena. In Houston, Ann rebuilt with grace-forming deep, meaningful friendships and expanding a community that became an important and cherished part of her life during her final two decades.

She is survived by her children, Michael Christopher Brown and Michele Ann Brown; her daughter-in-law, Michelle Doreen Kinsch; and her beloved grandchildren, Imani Eunique Brown and Griffin Mason Brown-Kinsch, who brought her immense pride and joy.

Ann was preceded in death by her father, Eugene Boyd; her mother, Marie Lewis Boyd; her sister, Lena Boyd Brown; and her brother, Eugene Boyd Jr.

Two services will be held to honor Ann's life. The first service will take place on Friday, January 30, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. at Laurel Pointe Senior Apartments, located at 16170 Westpark Drive, Houston, TX 77082. A second service will be held in New Orleans, Louisiana, with details to be announced at a later date.

Ann Marie Boyd Brown will be remembered for her gentle spirit, enduring faith, love of family, and the warmth she brought into every room. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the love she so freely gave. She will be missed.
