RUTLAND – Ann P. (Tyndall) Cortis, 65, beloved wife of the late Kevin Cortis, and mother of
Kayla Cortis, passed away peacefully with her family and friends by her side on Sunday, June
30, 2024, at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. Born and raised in Worcester, she was
the daughter of the late Howard and Patricia (Cronin) Tyndall. Along with her daughter, Ann leaves her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; several nieces and nephews; and close friends.
Ann owned and operated Small Steps Preschool in Rutland where she cared for many
children for nearly 30 years. She loved coastal getaways along the shore of New England with Kayla, live music, and day trips. Ann greatly valued her time with family and friends, hosting many parties at her home in Rutland, and looked forward all year to the memorable two week vacations in Falmouth with everyone. Above all else, Ann will be remembered for her thoughtfulness, selflessness and her admirable strength.
Ann's family would like to thank her Dana Farber care team for their compassionate care.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17 in the First Congregational
Church, 264 Main Street, Rutland. Following the service, Ann will be laid to rest beside her
husband in Rural Cemetery, Main Street, Rutland. A celebration of Ann's life will be held at 5:00 at Lilac Hedge Farm, 216 Wachusett St, Rutland. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be
made to the Jimmy Fund, one of Ann's favorite charities. Arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. www.milesfuneralhome.com
