Ann Haglund Obituary Ann Elizabeth Haglund of Platteville died May 27, 2025, surrounded by her family. Ann was born on Aug. 4, 1952, in Sterling, Illinois to Alexander and Jane (Smith) Haglund. She grew up in a close, loving family. Ann was an excellent student at Sterling High School and later attended college at the University of Colorado where she received her undergraduate degree in Psychology and later her master's degree in psychology from the University of Colorado- Denver early childhood development. She married Scott White in 1989, although they later legally separated. Ann is survived by her husband, Scott and their cherished son, Jordan. She is also survived by her brother: Jim (Mary Sue) Haglund, their children: Alex (Meghan), William (Taryn) and Tyler (Michi); brother: John (Debbie) Haglund, their children: Andrew (Nichole) and Peter; one sister Janet (Leo) Potter, their children: Ben, Marshall (Samantha) and Sarah (Tom) Horner; one sister-in-law: Pam (Randy) Kroh and their children: Sara (Brian) Morelli, Monica (Tyson) Silliman and Jessica (Jake) Oakley; one special cousin: Mary (John) Sweeney and many great nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Cassie, who died at birth and her cousin David Gray. She was intelligent, studious, adventurous and athletic. As a young girl, Ann loved to dance. As she grew, she learned martial arts and earned a black belt in Ken Po Kung Fu. An avid equal rights activist, she had the privilege to march for the ERA and often wished the world of girls' sports had come sooner to Illinois. She enjoyed skiing, hiking, rock climbing, Tai Chi, crafting and amateur pet training throughout her life. Ann loved to travel and fondly looked back on her trips to France and Belize to name a few. Her passion to help people led her to a career as a well-respected psychotherapist in Wisconsin, serving on the Wisconsin Supreme Court's Attorney Disciplinary Committee. She was a dedicated member of the First Congregational Church in Platteville and spent many hours painting and improving the historic church building. Ann was public-minded, a member of PEO and was a Co-founder of the Grant County M.S. support group. Ann often said, "a life with trauma provides an opportunity for growth" and "I'm a Jill of all trades and a master of none". A memorial service will be held Friday June 6, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the First Congregational Church in Platteville, WI (80 Market St, Platteville, WI 53818) with Rev Lex Liberatore officiating. A visitation will be held Friday June 6, 2025, from 9:30 AM – 10:45 AM at First Congregational Church in Platteville. The Melby Funeral Home in Platteville is serving the family. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.melbyfh.com. In lieu of flowers and plants a memorial fund has been established in Ann's name. For those who prefer, a monetary contribution may be donated to a charity of their choice in Ann's name.
