Ann Kiholm was born on July 6th, 1950 and passed away on
March 27th, 2025 at the age of 74Ann K. Hessing, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at 9:30 PM, after a nearly three-year battle with glioblastoma. She was 74 years old.
Ann was born on June 26, 1950, in Caldwell, Idaho, to Leo and Florence Kiholm. As a child, she traveled extensively with her parents to various heavy construction job sites where her father worked, including The Dalles River Dam in Oregon and the Snake River Palisades Dam in Irwin, Idaho. Recognizing the importance of a stable home, Leo and Florence settled in Boise just before Ann began first grade, where she grew up in a loving home. She later graduated from Capital High School in 1968.
At the age of 15, Ann met the love of her life, Lynn Hessing. The two quickly became inseparable, except for the two years Lynn served as a missionary in Colombia and Venezuela. Their love endured, and on August 25, 1972, they were sealed for time and eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Ann attended Brigham Young University, studying home economics until their first son, Ken, was born in 1973. After Lynn's graduation from BYU, the young family, which now included their second son, Mike, returned to Boise, where they put down lasting roots.
Ann's greatest joy in life was her family. She is survived by her husband, Lynn of Boise, and her three children: Ken (Sarah), Mike (Sara), and Chris (Rachel), as well as her 13 cherished grandchildren, who filled her life with endless love and laughter.
Ann was a woman of faith and service. A lifelong and active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she dedicated herself to serving those around her. She especially loved working with the Young Women's organization in her ward and spent 15 years as the Advancement Chairman for Boy Scout Troop 166, where she played a pivotal role in helping 75 young men achieve the rank of Eagle Scout.
Ann's love for creating and learning was evident in everything she did. She was a talented cook, seamstress, and quilter, running a successful custom drapery and window covering business for over 20 years. She found immense joy in attending quilting classes and events across the western United States, always eager to refine her craft. Ann also loved traveling with her family, particularly to visit her children and grandchildren, as well as exploring church history sites across the country.
Family was at the heart of everything Ann did. She shared a special bond with her mother, Florence, and was deeply involved in her care, especially in the last decade of Florence's life. Ann and Lynn lovingly cared for her until her passing in 2012, a testament to Ann's unwavering devotion to those she loved.
Ann's warmth, kindness, and service-oriented spirit left a lasting impact on all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of her family and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Stake Center located on 12040 W. Amity Rd., Boise, Idaho, at 12:00 PM. A viewing will take place prior to the service at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Terrace Lawn Memorial Gardens in Meridian.
